Carmel Hill: A Multigenerational Residence Balancing Classic and Vivid Styles

Creating a Cohesive and Playful Living Space for Three Generations

To achieve this balance, the designer, O Interiors Limited, paid special attention to the choice of color and shape. The dominant colors of grey and white were chosen for their timeless appeal, while sky blue and grey blue were added as complementary shades to inject vibrancy into the space. Even in the daughter's bedroom, which has a slightly different style, the use of white maintains consistency with the main color scheme.

In addition to color, the designer incorporated round elements throughout the residence to add a touch of playfulness. From the rounded corners of the shell-shaped living room to the round ceilings in the son's bedroom and master bedroom, and even the round arch in the attic, these design elements create a sense of fun and whimsy in the living space. Metal decorations are also strategically placed to highlight the classic style of the home.

The main materials used in the realization of Carmel Hill include wood, metal, and artistic wall coatings. By using round shapes in the ceilings of each room and maintaining a consistent color scheme, O Interiors Limited was able to create a cohesive design that flows seamlessly throughout the residence.

Carmel Hill was completed in September 2021 in Hong Kong, and it has received recognition for its outstanding design. The residence was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023.
